Johan-Amir started on the Isis tribe along with nine other contestants. Right off the bat Johan-Amir decided to form a "multicultural" alliance that would include himself, Raphael, Pedro and Joshie, but due to lack of communication (with Pedro and Joshie not responding to the offers) and later on trust issues with Raphael himself, Johan-Amir instead formed the "Isis 4", consisting of himself, Sinjoh, Mikey and Jack, an alliance that was formed after the other alliance members approached and revealed Raphael's early betrayal, which caused serious rifts, and in the end, the alliance, along with the rest of the tribe voted off Raphael in a 9-1 vote after the first, of soon many immunity challenge losses. Due to the early and horrible losing streak of Isis, Johan-Amir was forced to vote three more members of his tribe, and him, along with his alliance, decided to vote off the weak links of Austin and Nobo.
After Nobo's elimination, Johan-Amir was sent to the Pyramid, where he received a "working" "decoy" immunity idol that he could give to anybody at any point, this idol, which never ended up being "used", had the power to deceive anybody that it was handed to. Although great in concept, Johan-Amir could never find the right person to give this to, claiming that it was an excellent "bait", there was nobody to take it.
After their fourth straight immunity loss, the Isis, now down to 7, was set to vote off Pedro, but due to uncertainty and rumors of Johan-Amir plotting with Anubis tribe (which, in reality was half true, as Johan-Amir attempted to place himself, and his alliance, better on the totem pole once the merge came), caused Jack to vote against Johan-Amir, his ally, but thanks to Pedro's inactivity, Johan-Amir was spared the near-elimination in a 4-3 vote between Pedro and Johan-Amir.
With more cracks in the alliance, Johan-Amir no longer felt "safe" on the tribe and when the mutiny offer came, Johan-Amir jumped ship, betraying his original tribe and joined the Anubis.
With a double tribal council ahead, Johan-Amir played low and joined the majority alliance on Anubis, and helped vote off Lloyd from the tribe. However despite winning his first tribal immunity, bad luck soon followed as Anubis lost the final tribal immunity, and without immunity around his neck this time, he was vulnerable, but continuing his low-play, the tribe instead targeted Qayyum.
With information about Anubis, he re-united with his old alliance once the merged came. But coming to merge 4-8, the Isis 4 was in trouble, however, with knowledge of cracks, Isis 4 joined forces with Aaron and Lance, the two people outside the Anubis Six alliance, the Isis 4 managed to blindside Cowboy in a 6-4-1-1 vote. With the new found power, the Isis 4 managed to vote off the ring-leader of Anubis Six, Bailey. Although they were still in power and in control, the Isis 4 nearly fell as Lance and Ali decided to flip back to the Anubis Six. With Jack's hidden immunity idol, the Isis 4 and Aaron alliance was spared and KJ was sent home instead.
With a new idol in play, Johan-Amir managed to successfully find it, but due to his greed and more stealthy game-play, he kept this secret from his allies, a move that proved to be fatal, as Johan-Amir foolishly failed to realize the shift in power, and was blindsided the next tribal council in a 5-4 vote, and became the 12th person voted off and 5th member of the Jury on Day 28.
At the Final Tribal Council, Johan-Amir called out Aaron on his pathetic gameplay, and revealed that Aaron attempted to beg Johan-Amir to take him to the Final 5/6, despite Aaron turning against him and being directly responsible for blindsiding Johan-Amir. Johan-Amir also found Togz to be one of the more boring contestants, saying he didn't understand why he admitted to doing nothing. In the end, having more respect for Mihai, Johan-Amir gave his Sole Survivor vote to Mihai which ended up making him Survivor: Egypt's Sole Survivor.
In his Jury speech, Johan-Amir also revealed his serious distaste for Raphael, Joshie and KJ (whom he had a serious rivalry), and although he respected Ali's constant flip-flopping, he was upset at Ali's betrayal.
He praised Pedro (who was responsible for saving him early on), as well as both Cowboy and Bailey, whom he respected as players.
After the show, Johan-Amir was awarded "Player of the Season".
Johan-Amir was mostly remembered for the numerous votes he received, his idol fiasco, as well as his several rivalries with fellow contestants.

Johan-Amir returned for Survivor: All-Stars and was placed on the Mpilo tribe. Despite being weary of fellow contestant Alejandro the two quickly formed a friendship and allied themselves along with another core alliance consiting of Adam, Ash and Gerda. However before the game even started rolling doubts of Ash started to emerge and Ash quickly was excluded from the alliance.
Unlike in Egypt Johan-Amir managed to win immunities for the first three tribal councils avoiding elimination.
The Mpilo tribe however lost the immunity challenge on Day 8 forcing Mpilo to vote somebody off. Johan-Amir quickly struck a smaller alliance with Sole and along with Alejandro the three targeted Mark, and with help from Jhet and Sharky, Mark was sent home in a 5-1 vote. Following that Johan-Amir and Mpilo tribe managed to survive further two tribal councils after which the first tribal switch occured switching Johan-Amir to the Rolih tribe. With Sole being his only ally on the tribe Johan-Amir quickly targeted Uli whom a rivalry was developing. But with doubts about Johan-Amir's trust emerged, with his ally Sole turning on Johan-Amir and along with the rest of the tribe including friend Taylor who had no other choice, Johan-Amir was blindsided in a 5-1 vote on Day 15 finishing in 18th place.

Johan was offered to return for Survivor: Revival but turned the offer down. He also attempted to start hosting his own ORGs off-site, a Survivor and a Whodunnit, neither of which he managed to finish. Following his All-Stars appearance Johan-Amir has been recruited to host Survivor: Peru but later pulled from it due to increasing tension within the community along with reluctance to work with certain people and doubting the involvement. Johan-Amir also started his brand new ORG Secret Story which after three attempts of any ORG finally managed to picked off finishing the first season on the 18th of March 2014. In June 2015, Secret Story was re-booted with a fourth season.
